Firefox mac fonts

  My macbook hard drive that I had upgraded to some time ago died tonight, luckily I had the original one with quite recent backup on it.
  The only thing that is different when running from backup drive is that Firefox displays non-smoothed fonts on some sites, ie. newstoday.
  System settings are "turn off font smoothing for sizes 6px and smaller"
  Any hints?..
