the reason i ask is, ive seen american apparel tshirts go for like $8.50 each if you buy them in bulk, but they make you buy only 1 size and one color to get that price. i wanted to buy 4 in the same size but different color to test out some designs (which i could just later wear myself)

yeah, too bad there aren't more sites out there carrying different colours.
