before pagerank is attributed google uses an interim algo to determine a sites serps. once page ranks been calculated then the site is displayed based on its actual relevance.

articles DO aid SEO.

articles are a great way of increasing relevancy - my site is an 'up and comer' meaning once its 100% indexed it should yield good results for people who use it... c'mon its a new project no one gets instant success.

Original articles yes, but NOT duplicate content which is what that site if promoting
- emecks0
Surely that only has any effect on the directory itself and not on the sites it links to??
When you submit articles you often find that it gets picked up and replicated by any number of blogs and other directories too. This certainly doesn't hurt you.

if you take articles from a site that publishes them and use these articles to populate your own site the page (and depending on how many other dupd articles there are) and maybe your own site will suffer.
The idea of publishing articles in this way is to generate large amounts of incoming links with controlled keywords as the active link that points to yr site/page.
There is more value in either creating a unique article or discussing an article on another site that straight republishing it

agreed maxi

not really... if you think about it its a controlled link from a page on a site thats relevant to your topic.
- trooperbill0
max: yes but there are millions of highly informative good quality pages out there that never see the light of day, an article site is a good way of getting them viewed... the old adage of 'create quality content to get a high serp' is false.

Thanks for your input guys.
trooperbill - after having read various SEO forums, I keep getting all these mixed signals. They all say pagerank itself has little or no impact on search results?
