I'm going through the process of trying to learn how to do things in ActionScript 3. It seems like everything has changed. Does anyone know of a good resource to get someone pretty well versed in AS2 up to speed?

Thanks for the links. I'm about to throw my computer out the window. I mean, damn, I'm a designer. I'm not a Java developer here. WTF!!

I've been spending the last couple days adjusting to it.
The big difficulty for me was comprehending the error messages. Y'know, after a while in AS 2.0, if you see specific messages, you know EXACTLY what to tweak. But in AS 3.0, I'm all confused as to what I did wrong.
Kirupa.com
Actionscript.org
Lynda.com
O'Reilly Cookbook are so far, serving me well.

thank GOD my boss is in the same boat as i am. he's worked on flash all the way up to flash 7 and now he's got cs3 and he's up shit creek without a paddle too.
this is way over-complicated.

I think for a lot of site/microsites/ flash components on site you'll be fine with just doing it how you do it. Just publish with as2 (I hope you have a choice?) but for applications the AS3 will be in play. I don't know a lot of people that create actually .as files for simple get it done quick and get it out the door work.

yeah, i just reverted it back to AS 2.0.
i just did more in the past 5 minutes code wise than i have in the past 5 days. wow.

True, but after working with other developers' files, I am thankful that people use them. It's just such a waste of time to have to look through a maze of movieclips to find specific lines of code.

(May 31 07, 08:47)ugh... I normally add 1 day if they provide the other developers code. just to find everything and see how they dev'd it. Only once did someone provide pretty decent code.
