VIRUS on OSX??

that happened to me a lot when I was using Extensis X. The problem was basically with Helvetica.
Try going to "Mail" and make sure all the fonts are ok there. I usually just went there to find out that Helvetica (fractions) was selected as the primary font for no reason at all.
Try clearing your font cache. It might help too.

Or just deactivate anything with fractions.

Vector, what do u mean clear font cache? In Safari or in the system? if in the system, where do I do that!?
thanks, I know I was messing around with fonts in the fontbook when this happened!

oops!
download ONYX from apple. It's a little nice application that helps you maintain your system working smoothly. It repairs permissions, clears your history, forces your system to delete files, clears your cache, font cache among other things.
Try it out. Don't forget that this application is not for fonts. It's just for your system, so don't expect any results, but it might be worth trying it out to see if it helps you. Besides it's something you might anyways use every now and then to keep your computer happy.

Still fucking here...doesn't wanna go away...
:(
- oldelpaso0
its showing default sans serif
maybe u should just trash safari and use another browser..
- VectorMasked0
did you deactivate all the fonts with fractions??
I'm pretty sure one of those fonts with fractions took the place as the first choice font. You gotta find it. Go through you font management application (linotype, extensis, etc..) and check that none of the fractions is activated

I am deleting all user fonts, do u think this help? this problem is extending to emal and other applications!!
Shit

yes.. font conflict or your default font has changed to that crazy fraction one. Try re-starting your mac with suitcase turned off (and in prefs stop suitcase from automatically starting on start up).
Try using Linotype font explorer... I've never had problems since changing to this.

"The Day Fractions Took Over"™

could be an issue with Helvetica
- Elfangio0
How do I recognize if its a Fraction or not?!?
Thanks guys!

safari makes fonts look all janky for some reason

Make sure all your computer fonts are switched on in font book and resolve any duplicates if any : edit > reslove duplicates. I had the same problem with email, this fixed it.
- barbtastic0
had the same prob a few years ago... just delete helvetica fractions from your font manager
- barbtastic0
the best way to avoid font problems on yr mac is to ONLY use font book to manage your system fonts... then use a separate font manage [like suitcase, etc] to manage all of your misc/fun/designer fonts
then, make sure you do not allow this app to manage system fonts, [turn that off in your prefs]
