So, I finished my web folio and now I'm updating the printed version. At the moment I have 24 pages, each with one client per page with various samples. I've read that that might be too much work to show but having that much got me a pretty decent job last time. What's the general concensus?
Also, when applying prospectively to agencies, is it general practice to call them up and ask who to send the application to or just send it addressed to the 'creative director' or some other title?
Cheers 'n' that, likes.

I meant 12 pages/24 sides. Same thing I suppose.

Just show up and ask to see the CD, then show your folio and stick him a card. I had an A3 folio for show and a stack of A5's to leave behind so they don't forget.
That how I got all my jobs, all the call for an appointment and wait forever bullshit takes too long and it's too easy for them to ignore you.
Good Luck!

this book has some good insight into the do's and don't of the job hunt, etc. seems like a waste just to buy a book to get a job, but it's worth having in your design library.
personally i've always emailed with pdf's and site link, followed up soon thereafter.
bender's idea seems good, though i know some CDs hate that...

and 5timuli, i know this goes back to your other thread awhile back, but looking at your site it seems like you've got an over abundance of work there.
a more important note: as a print designer, i would want to see details. the work there is small in size and i miss a lot of the intricacies of what you're doing in each design. Especially when it comes to type.
Type is the most important part of design, and i can't even see (for example) what your letterheads read up close.
hope that helps ;)

Ah, cheers. Amp, I know what you mean. It's less of an issue with my printed folio because I have samples to take along with it. I might look into removing some workon the website and sample sheets and adding some detail shots in their place.
I'd feel better if I had names of each person but I'm a lazy bass. Might ask the wife to call them all, hehehe.
