Pony?
hey dude, you about?
- PonyBoy0
argh... ian...
... :)
... stop hard coding, first...
... second... you're going to need to build a 'module' of sorts that Flash will use repetitively... for each new news story.
This module will have a number of conditional statements in it that react to the new data being passed to it from your xml...
... I realize it's confusing... :)... which is why i'm willing to send you the fla to my lousy one-page website...
... it's basically a big news feed.... each 'module' is the same module... just filled w/the data from the xml (which has images, URLs and info)...
As I'm not entirely sure I'm reading you right... take a look at my site: http://www.arcademedia.net ... let me know if you think it'll help and I'll dig it up and post it.

meh... kinda...
... i'm battling crazy medication withdrawals today... I'm not sure if I'm really worth a shit to anyone other than my tv.
:)
I'll IM you in a bit... i'm literally spinning in my head here (MAD INSOMNIA!!)...
... *sigh

what's the problem now?
- springbok0
any chance I could get a copy of the files please?
- joyride0
yeah, for loops are your friend in this case. Same mc, just different data pushed into it. Once the data is in it, the internal functions take over to size it, set the links, etc.
Exactly what ponyboy said...
hayley call you yet? I told her you would by her dinner

the loop that loads the news can be found on layer 3, frame 15. you'll also find an mc called something like 'exportForActionscript_mc'... that clip has an instance of the news 'module' in it...
... I'm going to bed. :)

hahahahaha!!!

if you're getting the text and stuff in, I don't see the problem. The link should just be a variable in the node that you push into the onRelease inside flash. When the onRelease runs. BAM there you go
- ian0
Dude, dunno how you're even functioning, Im like a zombie here!
Time for more coffee me thinks...
Gimmie a shout when you have a chance to go over this, help is much appreciated!
But try to get some sleep!
- ian0

after those last couple of posts not sure if I wanna know what that was all about ;)
pony,
first up, Im not hard coding, as that wouldv'e been a bigger pain in the ass. Although at this stage, I would've had the thing done hours ago!
secondly, great site and any help is mucho appreciated!
basically I gone through this tute:
http://www.communitymx.com/conte…and its pretty much what I need, just need to change the href to a go to and a load Movie command.
Don't think Im esplainin' myself too clearly! Cos Ive really confused myself now too.

Holy crap PonyBoy, I feel like a prospector whos just found gold in his pan!
Jeebus theres a rake of code in here that i have no idea about, but I think Im finding the little nuggets I need. I'll keep you posted on how its coming along. Cheers for the help that fella!
