I wouldn't normally come to Newstoday to promote my blog, but my latest post is, I think somewhat important in reference to what we do, day to day.
thanks in advance for reading.

1) "We need to create an entirely new website by next Tuesday...” ( this was friday at 3pm ) “So we’ll need your team to work for the duration of the long weekend, and our budget is about 50% of what it should cost in a real world environment.”
-- the answer to this should either be 'no' or 'change that 50 to a 200'.
2) "They gave us reasoning that their sales guy thought, that having a company as far away as us, for the sales guy to work with."
-- that's a pretty awkward sentence at a key point in your article.

It's a good short read. Nothing really new though. We've all been burned somehow, if you haven't... you will. As sad as it is, it's part of the business and all you can do is protect yourself with contracts & deposits.

You work for a company, as opposed to just starting out on your own, and only now you learn these lessons?
jeesshh!

sure thats a bad client BUT>>>>>>
you can only blame yourself for ...
A.) accepting the project, knowing what they were gonna pull
B.) accept the project to complete in 3 days, 2 of which are weekend.
C.) not charging them for a RUSH job, with after hours fees.
D.) just dealing with a client like that in the first place.i feel no pain or sympathy for you. that was just a bad bad biz decision
truth has been spoken

I have been doing this for 10 years, and I know better, I really do.
We have contracts, and kill fee's and terms, and seriously... I do know better...
I was even refusing to take the phone call from them, they begged me...
I am an idiot.

You should have said there would be a rush fee and then charge them full price.
Sorry you had to cancel your plans :(
oh, and I don't mean to sound bitchy, but "discussion" is spelled wrong in your banner.
- brundlefly0
you are correct Mayo, it was about 5 grand cheaper than we should have offered, but I know the client and was really more concerned about preserving his brand than making dough.
My priorities are messed up....
and I fixed my spelling thanks!
