is it possible to export a flash movie to an FLV or an SWF to an FLV?

it is possible to "reverse engineer" an swf to an flv, you'll need what's called a flash decompiler. there are a few that you can find around the internets.
It won't reconstruct the FLV perfectly, but you can extract actionscript, movie clips, etc. and get a better idea about how the swf was built.

oh, you said flv, not FLA. disregard my last post.
Your best bet for that might be to export as quicktime, then convert to FLV, but i'm not too sure.

I dont think that's the qestion: decompilers give you an .FLA from a swf. I think the question is : how do I generate an FLV from a SWF.

You can also use SnapzPro to capture the SWF then save it as a quicktime movie. From there you can create the FLV. Kind of a work around but it works great.

import the swf to a video program, hopefully it's a timeline based animation, export to .mov or something, use the flv creator from flash. or export straight to flv using flix or something similiar.

That's the problem...Most of the animation was done with actionscript so exporting as quicktime won't work.

I'll take a look at the Snapz Pro. Seems like a workaround though. A swf to video converter would be best if there is one available.

adobe's captivate maybe. I think that's what will record the screen and you're mouse actions. Then export... but there are programs that will record the screen

can't you export a fla to a mov?
then just convert to flv

not if the animation was actioinscripted. quicktime only recognizes timeline-based stuff.

Do a search for SWF to Video converter. There's a bunch of them out there. I forget the site where I purchased my software but it worked amazing. Does everything everything, all AS, all ur interactions etc etc...

I had the exact same problem as you.
I used tween.as to animate it. I was so stressed I thought I was gonna have to start from scratch without AsI bought moyea swf to video
