At least you can post pictures.
Jesus. What sort of dezine forum IS this?
I love you NT but Links Are Not Enough. I like to evince my misery visually.

thanks for your comment, i'm sure no one cares.. and how can you compare myspace to newstoday? two complete different things..

you clearly care. are you saying you wouldn't like to be able to post pictures? let's not let nostalgia get the better of us.

Eh, I don't know about that. Sometimes simple is better.
I think the next version should implement images, but there should be filters allowed or people at work will be screwed over. Or maybe people should always remember to label their shady pictures as "NSFW", but that doesn't always happen.

I can't see what posting images directly on the site would ad to NT, aside from upping the owners' bandwidth considerably.
on the other hand, a site like typophile does work well with images but it's more of a discussion board. NT is more about interesting links, the discussion on here is only a small element.
myspace sucks the most, I can't bring myself to use it any more. Facebook is where it's at, so much more useful, useable and it actually works and laid out well too.

i disagree, the lack of images is the only thing that gives this place some sort of serenity

meh alright but i never look at any of anyone's work here. whereas i've found loads of cool visual stuff on myspace.
i guess as long as the point is just to chat then it's fine.
it just seems weird for a supposedly visual place.
l8tors!

It'd be cool if the images were little thumbnails, actually.
But not full-size ever (unless you had to click on a link first, or the thumbnail automatically expanded once you clicked on it).

I've been using mimecity.com to post images/video, you can create public or private 'Events' which are like threads and invite people to post there stuff
You can keep it private so you don't share ideas with ripoff merchants

Trouble with myspace is that our server at work has this thing blocking it...

It even judges how many flesh tones there are in a pic???
Not that I'm a pervert, but I think that's a little Orwellian
Thats why nt rocks!!!
btw - anyone know how to trick round it?
- ********0
becasue I don't want to see crappy pix that people post of their crappy mugz , ya dig?

Myspace?! the branding is just awful and so its the content.
NT, looks and feels good.

(May 15 07, 03:56)Not to be rude, but vespa, are you a designer? Doesn't sound like it. The content in question is what matters here and there is a drastic difference. Granted there's too much shit talking here often enough, but it's about design. MySpace is about ego-tripping. Plus, have you peeped Virb? if all you're into is photos, then go there. They actually integrated flickr into the profiles, which sells it for me. And the interface is bearable for those of us who care about functionality and aesthetics.

I heard the new qbn site was going to be just one of those "website under construction" things that so many unscrupulous businesses have these days...

nicely done Ampersanderson, it is scientifically proven that MySpace causes epileptic seizures
- Jaline0
I realize that I never really considered the title of this thread.
I completely disagree. NT is 100x better, particularly because I know it will never look 1/4 as horrendous as MySpace profiles do on a consistent basis.
- Point50
personally, I like that anticipation of what image will be behind the link

well put, ampersanderson
