im so sick of developer conferences and the like brewing with all these newfound clique-y communities.
you've got this close knit group of flickr kiddies who all travel and congregate together like elitist little hipsters, youve got web2.0 blogger socialites who all know each other and venomously protect their troops, etc. the design "community" is really just micro-communities roaming together and carefully avoiding loners and/or other groups in order to preserve the santicity of their elitist isolated world.

look at the line up, google them, and see what other conferences they are appearing at. You'll see the same lot all over the place.

I agree with you. What I wanna know is how those people get money to travel around the world from conference to conference. I'm busy making ends meet.
