lol Para, I couldn't help but read that line in a Harry Enfield / Catherine Tate East London nouveau riche accent..
"We're only having mokume gane bands, arn'we, eh?"
hm. that probably only makes sense in my own head.
They sound bloody lovely though - I can imagine simple bands of that material looking utterly gorgeous. Good stuff!
I'd always liked the idea of a well-made wooden band, but that'd probably never work.
Probably just further proof of my innate cheapness.
- paraselene0
hehe. one of the reasons that we like the idea of them so much is that the process basically renders precious metals totally worthless!
i think they can look naff if they're too high-contrast, but ours are supposed to not be that way...
hopefully!
:l
wood would be ace. i'm sure that could work, too. i hadn't thought about it, but it would be a great alternative to metal for the lighting engineer in our household.
i kind of worry about him coming home one night, like, missing a finger.

Such a girl! Such misplaced paranoia - he's not really likely to run the daily risk of losing a digit or two.
It's electrocution and falling off ladders you should be worried about... ;)
- joyride0
congrats jox! That's awesome
All the best with the new mrs. jox

Oops.. you're Anglocised, no need for an emoticon there, eh?

right, so it goes:
1. electrocution
2. falling off ladder
3. losing finger
4. getting it in his head to act

guess vespa's rage made her abandon this thread.

I'm sorry para to have mentioned ring-related losing finger one day.. then someone posted a link to a relevant image I never clicked..
Speaking of fears, a week ago I was on a plane, reading a magazine. It was taking a circle approaching the airport, I could see the runway from far away. I flipped a page, there was a detailed article on an aerial catastrophy from the 80's, it was a passenger plane that crashed in a forest near an airport.
I quickly covered the magazine from other people's eyes and started laughing at the coincidence.. but it wasn't exactly a free, relaxed laugh..
