I also don't know too much on the local design scene, since I'm freelance. I've got a couple of accounts here in town, but it's not big enough to support me.

can you provide links to any big agencies?

There really aren't many big agencies here.

http://www.summitprojects.com (outside of portland, where I work)
Second Story (which I would stay away from, have had a few friends go there and quit in a few months. Working environment sucks)

Inhouse at Nike and Adidas. etc.

Fell in love with Portland just driving through it the first time. Good size city in the middle of nature it felt like. The view of Mt.Hood in the distance is amazing.
Entire pacific northwest is beautiful.

love JDK. one of the groups i respect so much creatively.
- fezenstein0
totally agree, 2 alumns (of ua) a few years ahead of me went to jdk in vt. in the late 90s and later opened cincodesign.com - those guys were amazing.
- madirish0
aweome! love the reduced-form landing page already for them.
yeah, jdk has mucho respect from me and probably always will.
(not that they need it from someone like me, mind you ;)
- fezenstein0
yeah me either, i used to look over the burton catalogs from 99-02, like they were lost artifacts, which says a lot since i dont know anything about snowboarding. those guys did/do amazing stuff, i wonder if its' different clients at the portland office, ie: vt = burton, etc.
- madirish0
exactly. great, great creative in those catalogues and the print campaigns in mags carried it through flawlessly. so sick.
given the fact they have microsoft, giant, and merrell; they prolly have good reason to have an office where you are. :)

does JDK even have designers etc in Portland?
is cinco still around? I heard they closed shop
- fezenstein0
im only going off their websites. jdk lists an office on couch street. and im not sure about cinco.
- fezenstein0
portland seems quite intimidating to get a job, kinda tight knit, not a ton of jobs. seems like the promise land aside from that.
i knew a guy from way back doing alright out there it seems markwyner.com

Love the town... was just their last Saturday.
- fezenstein0
im planning a trip at the end of may, should be fun, but living there will be more difficult if the jobs are tough. man that shot is gorgeous.
