Has anyone tried it?
Might install it in my dell i hardly use...

yes. i use the server version though, no gui, just command line. it's been up for 5 months now!
my flatmate uses the desktop version on a box that is his media server. it's super simple to get running, and it's thrifty with the resources so it's good for older hardware.

Hey. Can I install on a G5 MAC? Love to give this a try. It says ther is a mac version, but, I am unsure if my iMac can handle this.

(Apr 29 07, 07:45)I believe you can. i currently use it on a G4, and it installed without a hitch.

How did you set it up on your mac? Did you reformat and start clean? I want to do that but have not found many good links on the details.

I am installing it on an old G4. I am wanting to install it this weekend on an existing osx partition if possible.

to get dual boot, you need to repartition so you have an osx partition, and an ubuntu partition. i think you'll have to re-install os x if your drive is not already partitioned.
this guy did dual boot os x / ubuntu with a shared partition that he could mount from both OSes:

I'll check that link. I already have some partitions I am not using. I was hoping to install on those.

I knew that image was going to be something weird.
From the directions it seems like that would work on existing partitions unless it has to be never before used or something.
