you might have to reinstall the OS...
if you do, do an "archive and install"
sorry man...but yeah, you are in single user mode...
you might try resetting that password of the admin account...you can do that with the install CD
put it in and let it boot up on the CD, then when the installer comes up, instead of hitting next or continue or whatever, find a menu with a password reset utility or something
- chossy0
alright myobie
what would happen if I reset the password ? would that do anything atall surely it would just leave me with the same result but I have to type something different to get to the same screen?..... thanks for all the help youse are giving me :D
I can log into the computer now, it just sits on this black screen asking me to type shit into it I have no idea what to do :/ I read the articles youse gave me but they say don't type in reboot or your computer gets fucked up....
Does anybody have an emergency phone number I can call or does anybody know a mac expert I could call?, I will pay for their time obviously, if they can fix this problem for me.
I'm reluctant to start reinstalling things.

I fixed the fucker he he :D
It was actually rather easy, after a bit of chin scratching and sweating and showting and tantrums I started up with the OS install disc then I navigated to the utilities menu then chose disc utility from the drop down, within disc utility I chose verify permissions on my system disc and then I chose repair disc permissions and lopty lop home boy works again :D
thank you for all your help I'll dedicate a page to youse in my memoirs entitled 'chossy till death us do art'
- acescence0
wait, you CAN log in? if so, type:
fsck -f
that will do a filesystem check. answer yes to all the "should i fix this?" questions it asks. if it passes and all is well, you can type reboot without concern and all should be well
- acescence0
oh, i'm too slow.
- chossy0
he he cheers anyway though, tell you what I'll pop you at the top of the page will that suit you ?
- acescence0
yesssssssss. hey look at me! look at me!
glad it all worked out, those moments of uncertainty can be excruciating.
