Q: ext. HD/ USB 2.0

quick question;
does anyone keep their music library on an external HD/ USB 2.0?
do you experience *any* performance issues, like delay between tracks?
i know Firewire is best.. i've always used FW extHDs for file overflow and backup, but some places have USB2 discounted so cheap i'm thinking of buying a couple 320GBs and dumping all my music offline. just a little reluctant to go USB2.0... ?

also if your music library is on an external, how often do you unmount/ power down? anyone leave their ext drives spinning for days?
again, i've always used FW external drives for backup so haven't used in an all day/ everyday routine. my old LaCie's are quite old and noisy.. i'm assuming the new drives are much quieter.

yes, i use an external drive, on all day every day for a few years now.
speed is not an issue regardless of the connection to the drive. if a compact flash card connected via usb 1.0 is fast enough to play uncompressed audio, a usb 2.0 drive certainly is.
