try not to get shot or stabbed

I’ll be in Detroit in a few weeks on business ... my entire goal is summed up in Seff’s post.
Perhaps catch a Tigers game too.

tigers games are fun, as for the rest of detroit...eh, you'll see why I got out.
Bars are ok, Flav, be on yer' best behavior, lots of attitude at the bars, and messing with one, usually means you get the cousins too.
- qruise0
couple of shootings, maybe a few car jackings
- flavorful0
Me on my best behaviour is pretty much anyone else on their worst behaviour, hahah.
I’ll be with a client though, so I imagine we won’t be going anywhere seedy.
Though one of the guys I am meeting there is from Detroit (in NYC now) so perhaps he may have some haunts he wants to revisit, haha.

- joyride0
flav, I know you on yer' best is still bad - lol. That's why I'm sayin in. All in all detroit's ok. some places have a bunch of jackass'. all depends on where you go. downtown downtown == good,
suburbs (outside the mote) == good too.

just spend all your time in Ann Arbor.

A lot of D-town love going on here.
Greektown has a lot of great bars. Around Comerica Park is fun too. Head north on woodward and checkout ferndale, royal oak and birmingham.
There is a great sushi place at woodward and 9mile "Sakana"
There is always the casinos too.

(outside the mote) == good too.

HAHAHA, joyride, I remember when you described that "mote" area that surrounds downtown Detroit to me... is there a bridge that drops like every 2 hours that you can cross over the mote safely?
- flavorful0
Haha good lookin’ joyride.
I’m personally not meeting with Organic, I have to go to greet a client at our Detroit Office which is actually in Southfield so I think that is suburbs.
My job is slowly changing from Software Engineer to Smiley Face Person, haha.
- madirish0
do they have NT in Southfield?
j/k.
have fun.

the cranbrook grad show is this weekend.
dont know of much next weekend.
- Mimio0
There's lots to do.
Also Greektown (that was already mentioned has good food). If you're going to the bars and clubs downtown you'll need someone who knows what they're doing(i.e. what you like) to take you around. If you have a car there's some really great landmarks to hit as well. People who like Jazz and Blues I usually take them to Baker's on Livernois.

Ann Arbor = Ashelys' (they have a thick ass book of all the beers they have round' the world)
Detroit = Tiger's game, Fox Theatre, Second City Comedy, HockeyTown Bar.
Royal Oak = 5th Avenue Bar (upscalie-ish, go upstairs tho where the live band is) If you're looking for a dive, go to Gasoline Ally
Ferndale= Boogie Fever, The Post
Birmingham = The Corner Bar (upscale-ish), Blue Martini (you'll find Tigers and Pistons players here.)
have fun and no you won't get shot u haters.

Seriously though, go dowtown on a Saturday afternoon, hit The Eastern Market, go to Roma Cafe or La Dolce Vida for food, walk around snap pictures of the old buildings etc.
- acedeuce0
OR!....you can use that saturday afternoon and head down to the farmer's market in Ann Arbor and then head across the street to world famous Zingerman's Deli and have yourself an amazing sandwich.
Then in the evening go down to the Blind Pig (music venue) to catch a sweet show for cheap. Either there or the Ark.
- Mimio0
Ann Arbor is great , I grew up there, but you would really be missing out to skip downtown.
