FYI as far as costs go, last year i had an llc in one state, lived in another, worked in a third, had 1099 forms and W2s, plus my wife worked in the state we live in, and i had a deduction list a mile long.
in other words i was a pretty complex case, and it was less than $1000.

thanks man, in fact I ahve an appointment with my accountant.
Is it me or is it hard to find accountants that know about design fields? I usually ask and they reply, is that newspaper ads business? Is it marketing? do you do signs? they havo no f'ing clue....

I end up spending about $500 a year with my accountant. Worth every single penny. Government paperwork makes me feel ill.
You can have multiple owners in an LLC. You just have define the percentage it is split between you.

oh and forming a business is fairly easy. Head to the county website to get the forms. do a little research on how to file and what not for your state. But in all, it cost less then $100 for sure. An accountant or lawyer will charge you his hourly fee to do it, so beware. you can do it all you're self on the cheap
