It is their decision to work in that industry. It's like monkies begging for peanuts at the zoo.
runs from room.

i generally over-tip only because i know that they could use the few extra bucks more than i can ...
[seriously ppl, it's only money]

(Apr 18 07, 10:15)try saying that when youre paying ur kids dental bills and that tip you gave to the wine server could have been used to give Jimmy a new front tooth, because Wendel down the road beat him with a brick

(Apr 18 07, 10:15)I agree barb. People need to chill. Or just not go out. Ever.

I don't know about that "it's only money" argument...
- Jaline0
whenever someone says that it sounds like they don't appreciate it or know its worth.
- e-pill0
even though you were kidding, don't you guys tip a lot, eddie?
I think most NYers and people who live in larger cities like that would tip more often in general...

(Apr 18 07, 10:15)jaline i was kidding about the comment about nyc tipping being a career...what i wrote is how i tip, aand generally i over tip. i fully believe in the tipping world. it means that if i go back maybe they will remember me and give me better service.
and you make a great point as here in nyc with so much places where money is exchanged and tipping is rather seconbd nature and as skt has said the tip is now part of the cost of his drinks...
yes tipping is good.
but id rather trip than tip.:)

(Apr 18 07, 10:21)When you're talking about giving a little extra tip here and there, it shouldn't really matter. People who get bent out of shape about that need a dose of perspective.

waitresses- 18% of bill
always cash tip when paying by credit card
e-pill
(Apr 18 07, 10:08)You seriously sit there and figure out 18%?
moural
(Apr 18 07, 10:16)no, i have a cheat sheet, that shows the 18% of every dollar amount.
- Jaline0
yeah, I was just curious, because I don't have to tip that much in even one month or a few months, so I'm going to have to be conscious of that when and if I visit a larger place, like NY.

(Apr 18 07, 10:23)I guess I should like at in the context of tipping then.
- barbtastic0
or they have better things to worry about that a couple extra bucks
[it's not an argument, just my take on money in general]
- e-pill0
jaline tipping is also what you can afford...i feel if i can afford it then i will give something that shows what i felt the exchange was worth.
dont come to nyc thinking its a must, its all your preference.

In Holland, it's considered rude to leave a tip...
neue75_bold
(Apr 18 07, 08:04)eh? who told you that?
- barbtastic0
when i could not afford to tip, i did not go out as often
the difference between 15% and 20% is a few bucks... might as well give them the 20%
- ********0
Fuck tipping.
Find a better fucking job and quit bitching.
I can't fucking stand people who can't do a THING for themselves. Tipping is like giving money to beggars.
- Mimio0
I'm more generous with beggars.
- ********0
Yeah.
And beggars piss in an ally and not in your soup.

I'm with barb
