a "liquid" layout that brings in a dynamic scrollbar ?
anyone?

using a liquid layout, setting the page overflow to none, etc., then using the flash scrollbar component with autohide set to true should work, right?

I wrote an AS2 class last week that turns a bunch of MovieClips into a vertical scroll pane.
http://pastebin.coconut.se/?id=5…
The scroll bar expands and contracts depending on content, the only thing need be done before getting all the clips on stage is to do a setMask() with the page and mask MovieClips

so st33d, all MCs have to be the same height to work but it will calculate the height based on # of MCs?
thanks

not familiar with setmasks so hrm i might not try it. or might have a play.BLAW, the liquid layout tutorial ive downloaded (as never done one before) actually looks a bit sh*te now that ive looked into it more.

hoss gifford had code that adjusted the browser scroll bar dynamically according to the flash content; his code worked with text, but I asked him about how to adjust it for any kind of content, and he kindly sent me and email, but I FUCKING LOST IT so if anybody figures it out, please let me know

cheers tbgd
i'll take a look.rand.
yeah i found hoss's thing earlier online and had a little bit of a play with it. and came to the same conclusion as you.
i used to work with him years ago. it was his and limmy's flash wizardry that got me into flash in the first place.
i was going to grab him on msn to ask him if it could be used for other content but he wisnae around. might try grab him later if he's around. cheers

its not that hard at all, just look on google for flash scrollbar, and make sure that its not just text, but rather moving a movie clip up and down...at that point, just load all your content into a shell, and make your scroller align to the right using a liquid layout (a listener attached to Stage.onResize = function() that says scroller._x = Stage.width etc) I have some code at home that i can shoot atcha if u still need it (proly be about 10 PM, EST)

wendog, if youve got it to hand later then any help would be appreciated.

(Apr 17 07, 06:49)No.
It says they must be proportionate (drifting graphics will alter the _height property), and where in the code does it tot up the number of MCs? Nowhere. Put your bloody glasses on.
The scroll bar to page ratio is a bit weird though - I'm pretty sure it's Flash giving me crap floats.
And to activate the class, all I did was put this in the timeline:
slots.setMask(m);
var slider:YSlider = new YSlider(slots, m, t, b, b.topC, b.mid, b.bottomC, topA, bottomA, 40);I could upload a working example, but since it's not written for Flash 5 I doubt it would be of any use.

Oh wait, I'll probably need it for archive purposes:
