mac mail URGENT HELP!!

I opened an attachement from within an email, worked on for hours, saved and it's no where to be found!!!
checked the Home/Library/Mail Downloads folder and nothing...
HELP! anywhere it might be stored...anyone??

yep...opened through mail...worked on it, saved it (where though?) opened over a series of days from within recent docs...used this morning, closed it...now it's no where to be found....ack!!

as suggested before use spotlight if you know the filename or create a new smart folder from the Finder with the criteria of "Last Opened" and put in "Since Yesterday"...and make sure it searches the "Computer"...and narrow it down some more with the criteria availbale.

Ya, bad idea not saving it somewhere first. You were just working on a temp copy and now it seems like the temp directory has cleaned itself up.
I'm not sure where Mail stores these docs, but try using Tinker Tool to reveal hidden directories and poke around. Maybe you'll luck out and find it.
Lesson learned, I hope. :\
