crouwel, THAT is my question. i think we have a problem that goes way beyond the gun itself

also, Switzerland is not a EU member.

yeah, got it. Good point, sputnik. :)

you have a phenomenally higher chance of surviving a knife attach compared to a shooting.
Bullets are exploding missiles when they enter the human body.

true Jaline. Crazy to think that just 150 years ago people were probably more scared of an ax than a musket...

that is my point. even though sputnik and pavlov point out correctly there must be worse causes for outrage like this i believe you can diminish the number of excessive outrage by keeping guns away from people.
there was a kid that shot his mentor at school and he lived in a criminal environment in which it was fairly easy to buy a gun for a couple of hundred bucks.
maybe there are countless cases we don't know of of people wanting to kill others but failed to acquire guns.

Crouwel
(Apr 16 07, 12:09)dude, most states have conceal and carry laws...
this cat could have had these guns on him legaly. ...until the shooting started.

that incident i mentioned was in my country (Netherlands), a few years ago, and the only fatal school shooting in many years here.

Why doesn't this happen as MUCH in Europe as it does over there?
If we only knew.
Crouwelthat's not exactly true, man.
It happens in Europe also. Even in Portugal (such a small piece of land) it happens daily. Well not shootings, but knife work and gang trouble. Daily. We just don't brag about it and we don't allow it to become cool and mediatic to stupid kids. That's all we can do.

Witt
(Apr 16 07, 12:16)sorry Witt. that is a bit of a weird comparison. In every country in the world you have crime related shootings and stabbings.
the issue here is that the guy got a HUGE amount of ammo with him.
i seriously wouldn't know where to get this if i wanted to.
and if i acquired info i would immediatly be in a very dangerous situation of the possibility of leaking information.
sometimes i think this may be related to the size of a nation, even though that is awkward, but here the govt./justice seems to be so much more influential on its people and so dense in monitoring criminal activity. maybe this is nigh impossible in the US.

BonSeff
(Apr 16 07, 12:17)christ. i think it is just a huge mentality difference at work here. the US seems to be so hostile it is hard to graps for a foreigner.

Jaline
