Mac or PC? For the PC there's this old program called The Font Thing that works pretty well. You can view, display, and de/activate any font in any folder. It's pretty robust, so I imagine it'll do what you want. For the Mac I bet that Font ExplorerX will do it.

I take it you're after an app which will print previews of all the fonts you have in a certain folder right?

yes! :) and even it would be nice if it you could change the text, like printing out abcde...öäüõ (or whatever text), instead of the font name.
