I guessed that while on the train this morning... having not even watched it, but just reading the review

No, he was from the present and decided to 'goback' to his coma state..hence why he threw himself off the roof.
When he was in the car, the radio kept speaking 'he's flatlinging...we're losing him'
Then he dies...which is when the test pattern girl switches off the tele at the end.
In his mind, coming back from the coma and not feeling anything meant he was dead anyway.

The good thing about that show is there were lots of ways to look at any situation. It was really well written.
That and Gene Hunts lines...brilliant.

'like a spastic in a magnet factory'!
LMAO
i think you're right, cos he knew about margaret thatcher and robocop and stuff.

I wasn't sure if he died at the end though until this mornings water cooler discussion. But having not seen the first series, I didn't understand the significance of the 'test pattern' girl.

Who'll win the slapfest?

I agree with bottle rocket, that's exactly what it was. I was looking for a bit of a happy ending though, sucker for that.
I think teh spinn offf will be to Life On Mars what Joey was to Friends. Shit. But it will allow for some really un PC jokes to be broadcast on the BBC, which I do like.

(Apr 11 07, 01:15)Wrong I think, that was some crazy head stuff going on at the end of that. I think it's more of a stephen King The Shineing ending if you know what I mean... was clever, and a head fuck if you think about it hard enough....then again, I might be wrong... If so then they've left it open....
