Marvel Entertainment, Inc. announced that at a special meeting held this morning, Marvel stockholders approved the adoption of the Agreement and Plan of Merger entered into by Marvel and The Walt Disney Company, which provides for a merger in which Marvel will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Disney.
Marvel anticipates that the merger, which, based on the closing price of Disney's common stock on December 30, 2009, has an estimated value of approximately $4.3 billion, will be completed today after the close of the market.
The completion of the merger is subject to satisfaction of remaining conditions disclosed in the definitive proxy statement/prospectus filed by Disney with the Securities and Exchange Commission pursuant to Rule 424 on December 2, 2009.

SUPERMAN BEGINS?
Over at Millarword:

Mark Millar asks his assembled fanbase this simple question: "Obviously, there's some legal shit to sort out but anyone who thinks Superman is gone is just plum crazy. Should we pursue this aggressively, especially given the buzz on Kick-Ass is just astronomical and Matthew is being offered pretty much anything he wants to do?" Millar has wanted to get his hands on Superman for years. He was part of a cabal that included Grant Morrison and Mark Waid in the late 1990s that pitched a revamp for the character in the comics and Millar has been quite vocal in the years since about a Superman movie. While there is nothing even remotely official about this, Millar and "Kick-Ass" director Matthew Vaugh could indeed use the buzz surrounding them right now to get a meeting and pitch their revamp. Millar says his vision would requite retelling the origin.Release date: 2012?
