omfg, this thread still up, I missed a Good nt Friday!

Well.. he is a a creep - sexy, athletic and singing sweet songs to our girls. And the fucker has a voice too.
He always was visibly fake and at the same time he was sincere in that he never tried to hide wasn't a fame-hungry self-obsessed dick. He's oh so sweet and sensitive in half of the songs, but playing these songs helped a million guys get into girls pants in the last decade and a half, give him some credit.
I remember first hearing about him as a dude who could play all instruments himself and in the digital recording-obsessed late 80's kept dragging all sorts of analog equipment to the studio in order to get the sound he had in mind right - he knew sound production was crucial.
So he did get the sound right, and also knew to get a decent band. "Let Love Rule", "Mama Said", "Are You Gonna Go My Way" albums sound like a missing link between Sly and the Family and Hendrix, or what Hendrix could have sounded like if he ever had a decent drum section. There has always been a considerable amount of cheesiness (or mostly cheesiness in recent years) but standing on solid groove.
He sure owes Sly Stone a bow every morning with a "thank you for the music", but so do Chili Peppers and many others.
Bottom line is I know he wouldn't have a problem defending himself with just a guitar in front of a crowd.

lots of people are great musicians. There are one million extremely accomplished and popular jazz musicians that are cliche as shit and just suck. kenny g is a prime example of an extremely talented individual that just sucks.

Elevators should have horrible music. Maybe more people will use the stairs next time.

Never paid much attention to Lenny. I listened to "...want to get away" for about a minute, then took his advice.

On Kenny G: does anyone remember when Pat Metheney ripped him a new asshole for his hack remix of Louie Armstrong's "What a Wonderful World"?

Here's a bit of that from Pat...
"But when Kenny G decided that it was appropriate for him to defile the music of the man who is probably the greatest jazz musician that has ever lived by spewing his lame-ass, jive, pseudo bluesy, out-of-tune, noodling, wimped out, fucked up playing all over one of the great Louis's tracks (even one of his lesser ones), he did something that I would not have imagined possible. He, in one move, through his unbelievably pretentious and calloused musical decision to embark on this most cynical of musical paths, shit all over the graves of all the musicians past and present who have risked their lives by going out there on the road for years and years developing their own music inspired by the standards of grace that Louis Armstrong brought to every single note he played over an amazing lifetime as a musician. By disrespecting Louis, his legacy and by default, everyone who has ever tried to do something positive with improvised music and what it can be, Kenny G has created a new low point in modern culture - something that we all should be totally embarrassed about - and afraid of. We ignore this, "let it slide", at our own peril."

    I think he was annoyed.

Thou shalt not put musicians and recording artists on ridiculous pedestals no matter how great they are or were.
The Beatles... Were just a band.
    etc..etc...

You know, some of us still retain a core innocence where maybe just the right song at the right moment by the right musician can change your life for the better, and there is something trancendentally magical about it.

And then there are those who are cynical, pragmatic bastards.

    k0na is obviously the latter.

    waynes world begs to differ

Kravitz is ok by me... because just like a mcDonalds burger - because u wouldnt just have it repeatedly, u would have it as part of a balanced diet [music collection] - and no mattwer how fucking awful everyone tells u it is - there are always those moments u have to enjoy in guilty pleasures..

and yes are you gonna go my way.. is Kravits version of Crosstown Traffic by Hendrix, but fuck it at least he had high standards as opposed t all these homos covering Bryan Adams songs
