i worked on a video/motion project over the weekend in after effects. took about 29 hours. on sunday i spent from 12:30pm to 4:30am..so i was working til' the morning. not sure if this matters but it only ended up being about 7 seconds of video.
info about the client..it's a major label band who sells multi-plantinum records..very popular right now. on mtv/trl, number 1 singles..all that stuff.
i have to charge them per hour..what do you guys recommend? i don't have much video experience so i'm not sure.

If you guys didn't define all this in a contract beforehand this is probably gonna suck for you.
I'd say quote them around $100/ hour which is an average rate for video production. If it was more animation up it to around $150/hr. Good luck.

If you didn't set it out at the start your fucked basically as I would charge twice what you have been quoted.
Email me if you like and I can give you a reply with the rate card we use as a guide if you like :) I work in a TV post production house as an Editor / brilliant guy in Scotland so the prices I gave you would be pounds (the best currency).

"Editor / brilliant guy"
Does your business card say that, choss?
