i witnessed a printer mixing up them pantone's by hand on a granite plate.
i just popped in there for print work but stayed for about 4 hours and had beers, coffee, cigarettes and loads of printing wisdom.
it was awesome and i love these guys.
just so you design nerds know.

oh and for jox:
my friend and his client blew up the engine of a Lambo Gallardo this week. It was hilarious but they had two at their disposal.
i hate them.

well it is the second printer i got to know that has old-school craftmanship and guess what both companies are run by father and son and both serve free beers.

press visits are the best. Once you get past the intimidation (that is sooo commonplace) you find that you and these guys (and ladies) have the same goal. Ahhh the smellls, the noise, the manglers...poerty in motion. I got in tight with a printer in the Bay Area and we would take all of these crazy junkets to look at new equipment, drink strong coffee and hang out at various press sites...his buddy was one of the authors of this fine book.
