i keep having a RGB black show up in quark and its a problem since we output for CMYK and if its used it gets wacked out at the printers end. i cant find a way to stop this from happening though i think it has something to do with the text being imported from word, any suggestions ?

can't you just go into your colors and change it to cmyk?
if that doesn't work, make a pdf and just convert to CMYK in acrobat...

ive found out its the text imported from word, but if i miss deleting + replacing with the pure black and it goes to the printer its a hassle just didnt know if anyone else has had to deal with this and if there is a way to make it stop importing the word text as a RGB black

i've never noticed that before, but just tried it, and it was pure black for me- maybe do a search or check in your preferences- or put a post in on your monitor!! sorry.

create a text style with the black you want, assign it to the text you want black
