multi language sites

  can anyone offer any insight into multi language sites and the pitfalls thereof?

  we have a couple to do in the near future, which include chinese/japanese, and i need to know the following:

  - is installing the language packs on my pc enough to test the language is displaying correctly?

  - does an access database / SQL database correctly store and regurgitate multi language content?

  - ...

  is there anything else i should be aware of /wary of?
