Best place to hire a car for a few days? anywhere to avoid etc...

Last time I was there I took a gypsy cab towncar drunk out of my mind from a party at the brooklyn brewery back to the lower east side. Driver was from my town. good times.

they all kind of suck but the worst are budget and dollar. hertz and avis are pretty good but they will also be more money. i would try to rent as close to your exit point.

Zip car is great for day trips. But it seems like they get pricey for weekend trips

yeah zip car is good but only for a few hours, doesn't pay to use them for a day or longer.

if you're in NYC then you don't need a car.
If you need to get around NYC use cabs, and if you want to head outside of the city just go to Dollar or Budget or Hertz or one of those.
My friends all like zipcar, never tried it myself.

i usually do alamo
they seem to be the cheapest with cars avail all the time
