i have no problem using most web 2.0 sites.
i do have a problem with that nielsen saying i should have a problem using them.

he makes me laugh, that BBC article starts with
"Hype about Web 2.0 is making web firms neglect the basics of good design, web usability guru Jakob Nielsen has said."
and then you take a look at his site.....
and as baskerville said above all he needs to do is add some fairly simple css to sort it out

I like his articles but I can never seem to remember where the archives are on that site. The link is hidden in that giant blob of text he calls a website. The whole site is a blur of similar looking links. I don't think of a site with no visual hierarchy or weight as being usable.
It is pretty odd that his excuse for his site is 'I didn't want to spend money to hire an artist.' I would think he would be loaded by now.

He lives in Freemont?
Is he the troll under the bridge by any chance?

And his No Graphics page still says 'and since most users have access speeds on the order of 28.8 kbps, Web pages can be no more than 3 KB if they are to download in one second'

My site is mostly text and it still looks better than his.
And if I had the money - I would get a professional on the case.
As long as Neilsen talks out of his ass, designers will have jobs.
