I have to post about this show (the newer version) because it's so good.
Who caught the season finale? I suspect this thread won't get many posts because the season just ended, but speculation is always fun.
I need Bear McCreary's version of "All Along the Watchtower" because it was genius. Unfortunately, the soundtrack won't be released until August, when the DVD comes out.

I'm old enough to remember the old show and it was so damn cheesey and bad. It was a total cash in on the Star Wars craze. I keep hearing great thing about the new show though. I wish I watched it from the beginning.

I stumpled across this show by mistake and it is brilliant, more like 24 than the rest of the trekie stuff.
Jaline the final episode was brilliant, all along the watch tower hah, Hendrix could have made a guest appearance. So are they cylons or do you think the cylons em-planted somthing in them to make them think their cylons. hmmm

2008? are you shitting me? i have to wait till 2008 for more?
this is one of the few shows on tv right now i truly enjoy.

The show is brilliant. The levels to it are really amazing. Sometimes it's too deep even for me, and I love deep stuff.
scoops, they are having a 2-hour special episode sometime in September (most likely) to serve as a bridge between the end of this season and the beginning of the next (in January), but it's been noted that it may not be significant or related to the current story arcs. It's just supposed to be a relief for the die-hard fans who can't wait that long for new BSG stuff.
BSG and Firefly are pretty much the only Sci. Fi. shows I love, and both fall under the category of "Naturalistic Science Fiction"

I was a big geek and wrote about Naturalistic SciFi for an essay last year, hehe.Anyway, I like the choices for the (possibly) new cylons. Particularly Tori, since she was an underused character.
What's funny is that (a few months ago) I wanted Tori to have a romantic relationship on the show, and the first person I said was Anders, heh.
Anyway, Lee had some good points during his final speech in the trial (as much as I dislike Baltar).
I still have no clue what's going on with Six, Roslin, and Athena.

By the way, Bullitt, the creators have noted that "All Along the Watchtower" (originally by Bob Dylan) has no association with Dylan himself in the show. It's just supposed to be a piece of music linking the four characters/cylons together.

TV at its best for sure. I love the show. Ron Moore said that they are indeed cylons, but would not say anything else about the other plots, like whats going to happen to baltar, roslin, etc. Season finale wasn't such a big shocker like season 1 and 2, but great never the less. The first 3 episodes of season 3 were some of the best TV i have seen in a long time, cant wait till Jan 08.

That's great news about the bridge. thanks for the info..
it really is one the best written shows.. well.. probably in the history of tv.

Greast show... probably my favorite. But, like all good shows, rumor has it that they are canning the show after season 4.
I'll have to hunt for the article...

At least they added 20-ish episodes instead of the original 13 they had planned for season 4.

Another great thing is how, while one could predict and be accurate about what was going to happen to everyone during the season 2 finale, the season 3 finale is so uncertain...unpredictable.
- Jaline0
I mean the episode AFTER the finales, so it was easier to predict what would happen in the season 3 premiere, whereas I think it's harder to see what will happen for the season 4 premiere.

honestly, i hope and pray that the writers kill the show when it's done.
Lost and 24 are great examples of shows that should have stopped at 1 season. how great would that be? a show that had the balls to say "nah, we're not making anymore because we said what we had to say"
i really hope that BSG doesn't go down that road...
- Jaline0
I completely agree. Except BSG hasn't gotten old yet in the same way that the other two shows you mentioned have. Luckily.

so i was shooting a TV pilot in Florida and it just happened that i ended up sleeping with the exec producer. Then one of the directors asked next day what i was up to last night... so i told him. He got "pissed" saying "I was watching reruns of Battlestar Galactica as you were fucking this hot chick..." From then on each time me or the 2 directors would mention Batlestar Galactica on the set we knew we were talking about hardcore sex. The thing is that noone on the set knew it so soon they assumed taht we are talking about the TV show and before you knew whole production (about 40 people) were preocupied with the show... Yet only the 3 of use knew the tructh.

lol.
That'd be a nice thought to have while watching BSG. Except that it is a terribly depressing show once in a while, particularly this season.
It was still good...just depressing as well. Some of the episodes were really confusing though, maybe because of the way they were shot. Sometimes I think they should link stories in a better way.
Like last season when Lee had a woman on the side that he would sleep with on a different ship. That was a surprise to many people because there was no mention of it before.

Be intresting how their going to script the end of the series (whenever that happens).
Finding earth will be a tricky one to write, without it being cheesy, I mean them discovering modern earth would just suck..."FTL, quick, get us the frack out of here!"
It could only work if it was a distant future earth I think, or we'd been wiped out by the time they get there, or we're in the middle of ww3, 12 monkeys earth, or we're still monkeys!.. planet of apes!.... haha nevermind
