My personal favourite is Danny Elfman. Frequently works with Tim Burton, with Batman (1989) being one of his best. He also did the theme songs for The Simpsons and Desperate Housewives.
Williams is another really good one.

cool baskerville. I'm studying Film Music (almost done the class, actually) and we recently had to watch E.T.
I still have to analyze Kill Bill before exams. Should be fun.

Jaline, what kind of course? Like an overview?
I was a music major, but i took an overview course in film music. Had to do a like...40 page paper on the Citezen Kane score. Yikes.
Fun though! :D

we basically analyze film and music over the past 100 years. of course we can't get too detailed, but it's fun. we went through eras and composers, as well as styles and stuff. It's more difficult to take the class if you aren't a film or music student. I'm not either, but I have a background in music and I took a film course in first year. My best friend is a music major :)
I survived without ever having to buy the textbook, because nearly all the info can be found on the internet.
