Trying to open a number of InDesign files, .indd extension, in CS 1 version of InDesign.
It will not open them and I get the message:
"Cannot Open File
Cannot open [file name].
Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version fo InDesign."It also includes the problem in the box above it and only lists "InDesign Content Manager"
Any ideas? Surely I am able to open a file from CS2 in CS1?

No, actually you cannot. You can try the .inx file but you do have to download the most recent updates for CS1.
I tried and tried this, to no avail.
Good luck.

I downloaded updates but it still didn't work.
Same thing for you?
Thanks for the info.

OH - I just chose Updates in InDesign, and it prompted for a CS2 Compatability Update.
That still didn't seem to do it.

because it has to be saved as an .inx file (InDesign Exchange) from CS2 for it to work

Native CS2 files will NOT open in CS1.
You can download the CS2 trial version, open and save the file as .INX and then open it in CS1.
