lookin for books...preferably lightly comedic, but not ficticious... documenting the bubble burst. meaning all the crazy startups, the outlandish deals made, the expensive furniture and shit. anything?

If you have a chance, read Rodney Rothman's short story, My Fake Job:
"They sat in thousand-dollar ergonomic office chairs, but their nameplates were made with paper and Magic Marker. The message was clear: The chairs could be resold; the employees were expendable."

It can be found in this collection: http://www.mcsweeneys.net/author…

"and then we came to an end" is fiction, but it is funny as fuck. documenting the downfall of an ad agency at the tail end of the boom.
should be out by now.

Burn Rate by Micheal Wolff sounds like what you are looking for...
http://www.amazon.com/Burn-Rate-…I'll never forget watching the former company I worked for put close to 1.2 mil into a renovation on Market Street in SF only to have the VCs call in thier chips minutes before the paint dried...damn, I had just hand picked the perfect Aeron for my ass ...now I sit in a lawn chair...

Dot Bomb by Rory Cellan Jones - sounds just like what your talking about. talks about the industry running up, first tuesday, outlandish studios and companies being valued at 10's millions trying to get to IPO - its a really good read

dot.bomb sounds good. ill check it out.
im also sorta more just looking at humorous recounts of multiple crazy startups...like i heard one of bird-watching website that apparently thought it would be a billion dollar industry.
surely someones gotta have compiled zany stories from the heyday.?
- madirish0
there are sure to be recorded accounts of 'what went down' out there published, but to be honest, the best stories/accounts/briefs on those years i have been privy to were from people who were just close enough to the action/decision makers when it happened, to be able to give great stories.
ask people you work with/know- they might have this.

it wasn't a burst. It was a bubble and it popped.

Does anyone know of any good documentaries along the same lines?
