Hey guys,
What software is best for making fonts? I've started drawing the characters of my font in illustrator but what's the next step. Is there anything for free which will do this?
Also any good general resources online? thanks

FontLab has been for me the most thorough and robust type drawing tool.
Unless the typeface is only for a specific screen application, I would highly reccomend that you begin by drawing your typefaces by hand. There is lots of literature out there on typographic forms, but even better would be to find some courses/workshops being offered. It is not a simple or easy trade and should definitely be approached with a lot of respect.

ScanFont for scanning.
TypeTool for starting.
FontLab for everything.
