  In AE, say you draw a mask with the Pen tool around a letter or shape, and you are going to do that write-on effect by rendering a stroke over the path, and set it to Reveal Original Layer.
  How does it know the Start and End attributes? Can you adjust where those start and end points of the stroke and/or mask lie? Why doesn't default to where I began to draw the mask?

  I think theres an "offset" property where you adjust the start of it.
