bigfoot is a graffiti writer and the bigfoot character is his "icon" and can b thrown up on a wall as a character or letter forms..
same goes for dalek...
so a repetitious style is definitely understandable...graff writers write their name over and over and over and over again....

sometimes repetition can't be helped. when you're on a track and exploring a subject, you'll paint and paint yet somehow never feel that you're hitting the subject just right. so you can go through 50 canvases before finding what you're looking for.
there's also the business aspect. if you work w/an agent or gallery, they expect X amount of work to be done by X date, and if you're in demand many clients want "that" painting...so you make variations and repeat yourself.
in both examples, it can't really be helped.
