I had to go back and work on something in 10.. How do I turn off that automatic margin it puts on the document? Does that make sence? I bet not. Open the smart ass flood gates!

never seen an auto margin.
all versions of AI show page tiling (the live print area on page). you can turn that off under your view menu.

thanks

it was always an auto margin until CS - I yelled out "PRAISE JEBUS!" the first time I opened a new doc in CS.

I am trying to print a file that runs to the edge of the paper. CS has no problem doing so but 10 keeps putting margins on it. I thought turning off the tiling would fix that. nope. Does 10 not support this?

the print margin is defined by your printer and it's driver, not illustrator.. shouldn't matter what version your running.

what horton said

then why would the same file print diffrently from cs? I would just open it in cs and print from there but it dramatically changes the colors.

turning on/off tiling is just a view option, if you find the guides distracting.
if you change your printer via the print dialogue you'll notice the ape tiling change.
you can dial in even more via general/ media settings. depending on your printer capabilities there may be an installed option for full bleed.

btw.. that is all mac advice, i don't know how print drivers behave on PCs.

Try Page Setup>Custom Page Sizes and then set your own printer margins.
That might work.
