Hi. I'm new. well, sort of.
I was thinking if any of you has a telescope and could point out what is that bright thing under the albedo moon tomorrow. Giving that there'll be no clouds, and looking West, you'll see a bright object under the crescent moon around 8 PM GMT-0 (Greenwich axis).
I'm not sure if that will not be a naked-eye of the ISS and was hoping if anyone with a telescope could comprove it.
i know this is sort of wacko request but i don't care.
love,

According to 'Stellarium' - it's Venus (rising),

hmmm, yes. I was in doubt between Venus or the ISS. NASA said it would be the brightest object in the sky. Hence my question.
Thank you ghandolf. cheers.

The ISS isn't stationary. It's moving about as fast as an airliner appears to be moving. I saw it go over a couple of time a few years ago.
You're welcome.
Cheers

Hey Witt, I saw that object below the moon last night. I was trying to explain to my girlfriend that it was probably a planet but she didn't believe they were visible with the naked eye. So are we saying it was venus then?

got his from the BBC's Skt at Night site:
VENUS
The two-day-old waxing crescent Moon is above the planet on the 21st, not that you'll need it to find this super-shiny object - all you need to do is just look for the brightest thing in the just sky, and that's Venus.so last night it was Venus.

Works great for finding stuff like this, or in general, just looking at the night sky. It shows you were everything is, was, or will be. Set your coordinates for your own local sky overhead.
It's free, open-source, operates on all OS's.

20min to get from the Sea of Japan to the skies above Alberta

19.00 GMT-0. beautiful sight: it's still day, there's a perfect blue sky. You can see the waxing moon and below, alone, Venus. a perfect alignment.
Spring starts.

gandholf, you just made my day with stellarium. amazing stuff.
- ghandolf0
Awesome! I love to make people's days with free stuff.
That program is pretty nice. It's the same one that some planetariums actually use. You can also speed up time, go to next year, zoom in on planets, etc. The 'red screen' option will help if you if you take your laptop outside, and use it next to a real telescope.
Now if you actually want to see what it's like 'out there'...
See ...http://www.shatters.net/celestia…
This one takes a more 'robust' computer to run it, but it's also a very cool, free, open-source program.
Enjoy, my friends...
