Look at this -> ((()---
It's the world's smallest violin playing a sad song for all underpaid, underage ADs out there.

Titles don't mean shit, it's the work you do. In my opinion art directors not only lead teams but have to direct shoots, come up with concepts that other people work up and oversee projects. Plus deal with clients, a lot.
Very much doubt you'd be doing that right out of university....

I know an AD that works there, and I know somebody that was interviewed and offered the same position a while back.... I make more than double than what they make, and I love my job. I am not complaining, becuase I simply said 'No Thanks'.
I just find it absurd and funny they try to impress people like that....it's like those signs on evbery corner "BE YOUR OWN BOSS!"

Homer is either getting struck by lightening, or he smells.

Your title was ADHD but they changed it right before you walked in.

funny...i just started my new job today as an AD and still in school.
boohoo if you're underpaid, don't take it then. but agency experience is a major plus on a resume.
it was only the first day and know its gonna be alot more than just leading people. directing shoots is gonna be a trip.

you're still in school and an AD? so who exactly will you be directing? a set of 15 year old interns on summer break from highschool?
- gramme0
In a lot of agencies AD = designer. In some design firms, Art Director is synonymous with Design Director, which is a senior level position involving project management and so forth as someone described above. Not the same thing as AD in an ad house. Job responsibility varies from place to place.

(Mar 21 07, 11:53)No, although I think that'd be entertaining. I would've graduated a couple years ago, but i've been working full-time straight out of highschool.

(Mar 21 07, 11:51)That will be depend on your CD. If they're controlling, you may never direct a photoshoot by yourself. If they're chill, and you show some skill in directing, they'll slowly wean you off over several shoots and then leave you alone, more or less.
- gramme0
for the big shoots it's always better anyway to have more than one person from your company directing, especially if the client has brought along it's own small army, as often happens.
