ok - really had enough of them now!
Could someone recommend some decent hosters with an admin that handles multiple domains? cheers. D.

1&1
http://www.1and1.co.uk/?k_id=622…i think they are the best, my fave thing about them is that they have a really simple control panel, with a great web stats tool

I use Brinkster, and have never had a problem with them. I host about 20+ sites with them (granted most of them are just joke sites to make fun of my friends).
Mainly because (mt) doesn’t have a cheapish MSSQL option (or a MSSQL option if memory serves me correct).

best bit is the live 24hr support

dreamhost. maybe an outage once every 10-12 weeks, which isn't too bad. there's an assload of promo codes out there i well—i got my first year of hosting for $10. then just use that time to build up referrals...

I have a problem now that I have a gird server, and a shared server...
The shared server is working great, but I want to add server space to it...
But they are saying they won't offer me any more unless i go to grid server... how unfair is that!
I don't want to go with grid server as it is so unstable, and certain things do not work!

DH is pretty decent. I've had an account on one of their servers for just high bandwidth/low speed stuff, and keep my clients and my own critical stuff on my colo'd server elsewhere. They've had some pretty big downtime in the past, but if it's not too critical, you'll probably be fine. just don't put clients on them cause you'll get calls all hours of the day asking why it's down and there will be nothing you can do about it.

that sounds awful

don't get me too wrong here, DH is good for what it is : a cheap, high bandwidth & mass storage webhost... which has downtime cause they host like 600,000 domains. just comes with the territory.
my colo provider charges big bucks for a few TB of bandwidth each month, so I just host the media files on a DH account. works great and is super low cost.

I use them for a lot of coldfusion hosting too.

MIME STAY AWAY FROM THE GRID
im in the same position. i have a personal joke blog that no one reads on the grid. i also have a real project/client on the shared side and it has a decent size database.
if the grid cant handle my 10 uniques a day without taking 4-5 seconds per fucking pageload them im sure not moving my site with 400+ uniques daily
the shared system was a dream
the grid is a clusterfuck, especially if youre upgrading to their "lite" grid

Lunar Pages has been the absolute bestest. Great, responsive customer service...never a problem.
