... alternatively you can sell your soul to threadless.
depends on who you are selling the tshirt design to.
if its a local wee shop then do it for a few free tshirts and some beer.
if its for a company like urban outfitters or another big brand name that will potentially sell thousands and thousands of tees with YOUR design then charge them accordingly. Big brands like that rip off soo many designers styles. if they WANT your work because you have a certain style then get good £/$ for it!!
if you merely want to have your design on a tshirt then why not do it yourself? if its a design you are confident will be popular then invest a hundred £/$ and get a load printed up. you'll probably get about 20-25 done for that. if they sell, then print up more.
cha-ching!!although things like threadless started out as a good idea, there now just seems to be submissions from anyone and everyone posting up every design they ever do. thank GOD there is a voting process on that site and not all the designs that get posetd get printed.
always examples of people posting up sh*te designs then pimping them in the PBS. if i had a threadless account then each time i saw a crap design posted tehre in the PBS id go and rate it negatively (if it was crap). jeez im ranting.aye...so what am i saying.... yeah, if its a design you are confident will sell, dont sell the design for someone else to make BIG money from, get it printed up and sell it yourself mate.

thanks for the info. I'm doing design for a brand in ny, they're not that big, but they're offering me 250 for each design (im doing about 5-6. I know thats very little but just want to see what everyone makes...

usrper, if they are a small brand then thats pretty decent money you are getting.
just spend the equivalent hours on each illustration that 250 would buy them.
dont rip yourself off.saying that, if its something you do want to do regardless of the money to get your designs out there, then go for it.
- see if you can get your signature/tag incorporated into the design somewhere ;)

yeah my fee would vary greatly if it was a small company & I enjoyed the work I would do designs for 250 a pop and a couple tees of each design.

well i guess by saying small i mean they're not urbanoutfitters or mcqueen.. but they have a decent store and a full line of clothes every season.
but i guess 250 is ok...
