Hey,
so this sounds really amateurish but I'm asked to set up mechanicals for a print job at my work. I defintely have expreience preparing files for printers but I'm curious if there is anything different in a mechanical, apart from the usual bleed and trim? I was told that its a bit more complicated than that so I just want to check.

i thought no one really did mechanicals anymore.

A mechanical is a file set up for a printer. These days it infers what you were mentioning, proper bleed, trim, seperations (if required), printer spreads (if required), etc.

kinda of depends on what the project is, and the software yr using...
