So I have a 44 page doc, half full of text, the other half pdf's brought in and placed, and I keep "running out of memory" and I'm unable to PDF it. I tried exporting, Adobe PDF Presets, and printing as PDF and every way seems to fail. I even broke the document in 2, got the first half to print but the 2nd gave me the memory message. Any ideas on how I can do this?

Pdf in batches. That's what I have to do with catalogs. I'll export the first 10 pages, then the next, etc. WHen they are all done, combine them in Acrobat. Pain in the ass, but it works.

No, no, no,
Hold on there big fella.Send it print as a postscript file
(checkbox in print dialog box)Open Acrobat Distiller.
Drag the postscript into the box.
(there's only one)Bam pdf.

sometimes that works, but it seems that InDesign sometimes has the same problem whether printing to .ps or exporting to pdf.

I'll give that a try too. But my experience with postscripts in InDi hasn't been great. In Quark it's easy as pie, but not so much with Adobe. I'll give it a shot though. Thanks.

Not that I'm trying to shoot down your help, hugelogo. Just wanted to let him know that he may still have the same problems.
No offense meant.
