As of 5 minutes ago, for the first time in roughly 8 years, I have absolutely no credit card debt.
I feel like an 11,000 pound weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
Now to ruin that in Vegas :D

Congrats dude! That is a great achievement!

at its peak it was about 11,500 but it never got below around 3000. I grew up poor and put myself through college sleeping on peoples couches and moving around so it just added up after a while. Now I'm freaking done with it and my student loans are not too far behind. ive looked forward to this day for some time now.
i hope you all have as great a day as I'm having now.

advice - dont cut it up, just reduce the limit to say 1000. best thing i ever did.

I removed a 5k overdraft in december. Best feeling in the world.
Letters from the bank went from 2 a day to 2 a month.

Free Edu / College is they way to go. Vote for that. I lived in San Fran once and a guy told me that he'd have to pay around 80,000 dollars to become a chef. MENTAL! I went to art college for 4 years all it cost me was materials. Otherwise I'd never have afforded to go to college and would probably be working in MickeyD's.

Wow, that must be a great feeling :)
And forcetwelve's advice is good. Actually, I prefer not having any credit cards at all, but many people want them for backup purposes. So a $1000 limit or something sounds decent.
I'm going to try and go without one for a while. My parents don't pay for anything for my education, so currently I have a job that pays for everything. Once I pay off my school loans after I finish my education, I will feel so much better.

we charged a couple of computers a few months ago with the idea of paying them off immediately, but then got busy and missed the deadline by a few days and ended up with hundreds of dollars in interest and penalty. In the meantime we had sent in a big check, but when we got the interest bill I freaked out and my wife called in to get our balance and it hadn't registered our payment yet so we ended up overpaying by $5000!
