Hi all:
Got a problem. We have a catalog here that has every text box in it linked. But, we have to remove a few pages in the middle. How can I get these text boxes unlinked without having the text in each box shift? Been trying to figure this out for years. Please help. You will save me 4 days of miserable work.
Thanks in advance!

could just delete the content in the pages so everything shifts back two pages (where your deleted pages were)?
I hate Quark.

Theorhetically it will work, but with this catalog, each poage os a little different, and has different imagery. What would be ideal, would be to be able to unlink and isolate the pages that are getting deleted.

anyone? please?

cant you just go page/delete pages, and put in the range of the pages you want gone?

That doesnt work. Everything behind it shifts due to the differing sizes of the text boxes so the text behind shifts. Its not so much deleting the pages as it is getting rid of the text without having that stuff behind it shift on me.
For instance, each spread is a single product, but the amount of copy for each product differs. So just deleting the pages does not work. I need to isolate the text on the pages to be deleted first before deleting them. Do you see what I mean?
Tried everything. Even Quark's own ideas don't work. (surprise....I hate qrk too)

you know what, when i've come across something like this that i cant remove or fix, i just tell the printer to NOT PRINT THESE PAGES and theyre cool with that.
g'dm this seems like it's harder than it needs to be.

EXACTLY! Really ticks me off at qrk, and the original designer. I always try to design my print and web stuff to be easy to pick up[ for the next designer that may need to update it. Guess they didn't think that far out.
And as for Quark, glad that robot still comes out and zapps pic boxes, but they cant get the damn thing to be user friendly.

maybe I'm not following 100%. there is an unlink button- and you can just click on those two pages?!? it should allow you to unlink everything or just a few-

yeah, it should, but it doesn't/ Quark says, that if one holds down the Shift key while using the inlink button, it will work. But, when i do that, the link arrow disappears, and when i go to delete the text box, it moves the copy in it to the text box behind it.
arrgghh
