Hi i need to preload flash movies on my html site so that they appear straight away when they need to, ive tried googling it but cant find what i need. I dont want a visual preloader, want it to do it in the background, what javascript would i need, Thanks

You can use LoadVars in Flash to trick the browser into loading any content you like and the browser will cache the data.
Just have a minicule Flash movie to do it.

? if it's on the main page, it has to have time to load. Unless you have a splash page or something and start the preload from there.
