version4, I'll respond to each question or point in a different post so it's *crystal* clear what my stance is.
so wait, you personify yourself on to the church and only present yourself as a "church person"? you cannot see yourself as simply human?
ever grow up and realize something you were taught or believed in for a long time wasn't as righteous as you think it should be?
My existence as a fully human being is supplemented, enhanced by my membership in the church. Before I was a Christian, I was an enemy of God. Now that I belong to Him, I am his son (NOT to be confused with Jesus Christ, the FIRST son of God, and the onyl perfect one).
Yes, I did grow up and realize that the church is not as pristine as I'd hoped. Indeed, many have characterized her as a whore, or a wayward wife; but she belongs to Christ and so I love her, while I do not support or condone the atrocities that any member of any church has ever made.
End of first post.

You want me to post it on my blog?
k0na_an0k
(Mar 8 07, 13:50)go for it.
i've believed that no one will ever understand my point of view on the topic for years, and feel sorry for anyone that could. as you can hopefully tell by now, the acceptance of others is not something i strive for
- k0na_an0k0
I have no idea your point of view. I won't pretend I do.
Forgiveness is a hellofa thing though.

gramme, no need. your posts prove to "ME" that you are incapable of thinking as an individual, though i can't help but think if you read the koran you would make an excellent suicide bomber, sacrificing yourself for something you believe in blindly
- gramme0
what are your opinions on the 2000+ priests in marin county that have been moved around to avoid sentencing by the church after paying families to be quiet about child molestation?
because you know that preists are guilt of touching little boys and girls right?
--------------------------
Not that the Protestant church is blameless by any stretch of the imagination, but these were Catholic priests. My church, the Presbyterian church, was founded as a rebellion against the lies, corruption and blasphemy instigated by the Catholic as it had evolved from Peter's first Roman church. (That being said, I personally know Catholics who are Godly people, for whatever reasons they have chosen to stick it out with the Catholic branch of the faith).
I think that those priests should be dealt with severely by a court of law. I think they should be marked for life as sex offenders and be treated as any other. And yes, I know what they are guilty of. This is why I don't condone enforced celibacy. I don't necessarily think it's wrong per se, though I do believe it to be wise...not many people have the character for celibacy, it should be a choice not a law for priests.

That was a pretty lame thing to say there, V4.Your view is your view, duder... doesn't mean you have to liken someone's faith here to that of a suicide bomber.
- version30
hence why i live in america, my freedom of speech is dear to me
- gramme0
your hell doesn't exist to me, therefore i do not fear it.
please explain how you feel disrespected by me for not honoring your church but you do not feel disrespected by those within your organization that defile children.
your lack of knowledge does not equate to it not happening.
version4
(Mar 8 07, 13:28)I think hell exists whether we like it or not, but I can't prove that to you so I won't waste another breath on that subject.
I feel disrespected by your comments that malign and bring untrue accusations against Christ. I do feel DEEPLY angered, saddened and disrespected by the liars, child molesters, and charlatans who have hidden under the badge of Christ throughout the centuries. They are not of God, unless they come clean, repair what wrong they can, and truly change form the inside out (this only ever happens w/ miracles).
I have knowledge of these things and it grieves me.
It is utterly impossible for you to dismantle my faith, and to dismantle Christ. It just can't be done. See 2,000 years of church history and persecution (not that I am under any pretense of being persecuted, the stuff I deal with is utterly minor fluff compared to being fed to lions, etc...)

... is your lack of friends just as dear? :)
- version30
the many friends i do have respect me for my ability to stand strong in my beliefs. thank you for assuming the worst of me with your position :)
- Mimio0
I doubt his friends are dogmatic. They wouldn't be offended.
- PonyBoy0
I'm just riding your line of 'assumption' here, buddy. :) If you look close enough - you'll see I'm only following your lead to keep this silly circle going.
- -sputnik-0
i respect religions and happen to be presbyterian myself [although i don't go to church much] but i have a real problem w/the evangelical threads of christianity.
if ppl don't believe in it, great. if they do, great. it's personal and that's where it should stay. but who are these people who think that it's their job to try to convince others that christianity is the way to go? they're pushy about it to boot.
i'd be pissed if someone tried to push anything on me, let alone religion. they should read between the lines of whatever they're interpreting and keep two things in mind: being pushy is rude, and keep your religion to yourself.
- Drno0
shit for a sec i thought that was about ball cleaning!!!
i feel betrayed,
off to bed

v4, You may have freedom of speech, albeit said speech does come out of your ass on occasions like this.
Incapable of thinking on my own? I think I've disproved the possibility of such an absurd notion by now. I've spent a lot of time questioning my faith, reality, the afterlife, philosophy, science, culture, you name it. I see it as a responsibility to actively engage my mind.
I'm not any more likely to become a suicide bomber than you are. It all comes down to decisions. All those confused, misled and delusional people who have killed themselves & others in the name of Allah or any other god had a choice. They chose to twist religion, whether they realized it or not.
Just like you insist on twisting my words.
- version30
ok, gramme, maybe the koran thing was too far as an analogy as it lacked respect for you, all it meant to say was i'd like to know what gramme the human thinks as opposed to gramme the christian as it seems gramme the christian is speaking from his book and not his heart/mind
